Juventus drew 1-1 at home with Salernitana and is still unsure of playing in the Champions League next season. The Old Lady played a terrible match in terms of effectiveness, saving themselves from total embarrassment only in added time.
If anyone came to the Allianz Stadium today to see Juventus playing beautifully from the first minute and having a shooting festival with the last in the table, already relegated Salernitana, they will be very disappointed. In the first half, apart from the crossbar after Vlahovic’s shot and the post after Cambiaso’s shot, the Old Lady showed absolutely nothing that would deserve applause. The guests from Salerno, on the contrary, came to Turin to play without any complexes and attacked Szczęsny’s goal time and time again. Their commitment was rewarded in the 27th minute, when Pierozzi scored with a header after a corner kick. Wojciech Szczęsny could have acted much better in this situation. A few minutes later, the Polish goalkeeper was involved in a controversial situation that could have resulted in a penalty kick. However, the referee decided not to point out the lime and this time Szczęsny got away with it, as the Bianconeri could have found themselves in a really critical position. After the first 45 minutes, Juventus was greeted with solid boos from the crowd.
During the break, Allegri introduced Illing, Miretti and Chiesa. The latter, in particular, brought a lot of life into the game of the Old Lady, who attacked Salernitana’s goal from the beginning of the second half. After a quarter of an hour, Vlahović had a great chance and narrowly overshot the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation. More minutes passed, the guests from Salerno defended well, and Juventus still tried to construct their actions quite clumsily. In the 70th minute, Cambiaso threw a nice ball into the penalty area, but Vlahović failed to shoot with his head. Seven minutes later, Allegri put everything on one card by introducing two more attackers. Yildiz and Milik introduced themselves well onto the pitch, after the young Turk’s action, Milik hit the ball with his head, but Fiorillo was on duty again. In the 88th minute, Miretti made a great shot, but this time the Old Lady was unlucky as the ball hit the crossbar. However, Allegri’s players achieved their goal in added time, Rabiot headed the ball into the net after a corner kick. However, the match almost ended in disgrace when in the last seconds the guests launched a counterattack, after which the ball narrowly missed the crossbar of Szczęsny’s goal.
