This is not an easy season for Juventus! In addition to not shining on the lawns, the Bianconeri have some extra-sporting business to manage. Due to the capital gains affair, the Piedmontese club had been penalized 15 points. Enough to move considerably away from the race for the top 4 in Serie A and therefore from qualification for the Champions League.

A penalty which was however suspended on April 20! However, the Old Lady could well be sanctioned by the end of the season. According to the various Italian media, the penalty should no longer be 15 but 9 points. Currently 2nd in Serie A, the Old Lady would drop to 6th place, 4 lengths behind AC Milan, who would then be the new 4th and therefore last qualified for the C1.

However, we will have to wait a little to know the final decision, since it should be announced at the end of May. One thing is certain, seeing Juventus out of the top 4 would be very bad news for Ligue 1. Indeed, lovers of the tricolor championship expected to see the Piedmontese club win the Europa League, while finishing in the top 4 in Serie A.

By qualifying for the C1 thanks to Serie A, it would therefore have allowed the third in Ligue 1 to avoid the play-offs and join the group stage directly. The situation would therefore become seriously complicated for the French clubs, since Juventus and AS Roma would be far from the first four places in Serie A, while Bayer Leverkusen and Sevilla FC can no longer qualify via their national championship.
