The Supreme Sports Court of the Italian Olympic Committee partially accepted the appeal of the soccer team Juventus and canceled the eight-month ban for the former vice-president of the Turin club Pavel Nedvěd for falsifying transfer accounting. The tribunal also temporarily returned 15 points to the “Old Lady”, so she moved from seventh to third place in the Italian league. But the appeal court of the Italian Football Association will decide in a new trial. According to the media, the verdict will probably come during the next season.
In addition to the former captain of the Czech national team, Nedvěd, other former members of the Juventus board Paolo Galimberti, Assia Grazzioliová-Venierová, Caitlin Mary Hughesová, Daniela Marilungová and Francesco Roncaglio were cleared.
However, the appeals of other officials were rejected, so the original two-year suspension for chairman Andrea Agnelli and executive director Maurizio Arrivabene continues to apply. The punishment for the former sports director Fabio Paratici also remains, the current official of the London Tottenham is not allowed to work in football for two and a half years.
The management of Juventus was punished at the end of January for taking illegal commissions from the transfers of footballers between 2018 and 2020 and showing false profits to investors. The Turin club faced the same accusation last year, but was acquitted. Last November, the complete board, including Agnelli and Nedvěd, ended.
Coach Massimiliano Allegri’s men are currently 16 points behind leaders Napoli and two points behind second-placed Lazio after adding 15 points in the table. Eight rounds remain until the end of the Serie A season.
