The Bianconeri coach wants to turn the page of a long saga and focus on the present rather than the past.
Massimiliano Allegri ignored Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Juventus. The Bianconeri boss said “life goes on” without a player who “didn’t want to play for the club anymore”.
The summer transfer window to Turin has ended with a staggering outing and questions have arisen about the success of a three-year stint in Italy for the five-time Ballon d’Or.
Allegri is eager to close this chapter, as Ronaldo is now part of Juve’s past.
Not to miss
Discussing Cr7’s departure ahead of a trip to Napoli on Saturday, Allegri told reporters: “Ronaldo didn’t want to play for Juventus anymore so he returned to United.
“It would have been his last season at Juventus, so we anticipated what we would have done next summer.
“Cristiano had an incredible three years at Juventus and we wish him the best, but life goes on.
“I don’t like to think about what could have happened, in life you have to be practical. Here at Juventus, it’s the group that has always won trophies, not the footballer alone.
“We have this characteristic of self-love and sacrifice in our DNA. To be competitive and to win, we have to have ambition and passion.”
The Bianconeri are set to play their first outing of 2021-22 without Ronaldo at their disposal, and several other stars are expected to be missed in Napoli.
