Juventus Faces European Exclusion Due to Financial Fair Play – Romelu Lukaku Transfer Rumors

Italian giants Juventus will not be competing in Europe in the upcoming season. This is said to be due to the problems they were facing with the Financial Fair Play rules.

Reports from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport suggest that Juventus have reached an agreement with UEFA. Reports suggest the club will see themselves quitting European competitions altogether this term for the season. The club would thus try to avoid any new sanctions for breaching Financial Fair Play rules and avoid any new sanctions that could hamper their plans to play Champions League football in the 2024/25 season.

Ten points were deducted from Juventus in May after evidence of false accounting was found following the investigation of the club’s transfer portfolio over the past few years. This was after Juventus had 15 points deducted earlier this year but managed to have the penalty waived.

Apart from the points deduction, many former Juventus board members have been banned from football activities. This included the club’s former chairman, Andrea Agnelli, who resigned along with some of his advice. The Old Lady was second in the Serie A table when she was punished. This dropped them to seventh place and were out of the Champions League places. Although their position at the end of the league has seen them qualify for the Europa Conference League this season, they may not compete to comply with their agreement.

Juventus’ new bosses believe the new deal they have agreed with UEFA is a small price to pay. The club are looking to start a new chapter in their history, once again, having come through the age of Calciopoli.
