Jakarta –
prosecutor FIGCGiuseppe Chine has asked Juventus to be punished with an 11-point deduction in Serie A, as revealed in the latest hearing regarding cases of capital gains overruns and manipulation of transfer fees.
The latest summary from Football Italia, the request was contained in the hearing on the appeal process against the 15-point penalty that was temporarily lifted last April. Juventus is still believed to be guilty of violating the principles of justice, truth and honesty.
Not only that, Chine also asked that seven former Juventus directors be punished with a ban on activities in football for eight months, including Pavel Nedved who was previously declared free of sanctions in last April’s decision.
Even so, no additional punishment will be given to Andrea Agnelli, Fabio Paratisi, Maurizio Arrivabene and Federico Cherubini. The four were found guilty last April, and their sentences have been upheld.
The case of inflating capital gains and manipulating the transfer value was allegedly carried out by Juventus in the 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. If this penalty is implemented, Juventus has the potential to fail to appear in European competition next season.
Currently, the Bianconeri are in second place with 69 points from 35 matches. Deducting 11 points will see them drop to seventh position.
Apart from this case, Juventus is also still being investigated regarding the salary maneuvers that were carried out at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. At that time, the players reportedly agreed to give up four months of salary in order to save the club’s finances.
However, it turned out that only one month’s salary was given up, while the other three months will still be paid, albeit in stages. This is considered to violate the principle of transparency because it is not included in the financial statements.
