It was in April 2021 that twelve major European clubs tried to launch the Super League project. The launch was later a total failure and the project was put on hold – after nine of the clubs dropped out within just a couple of days due to sharp criticism.
Three clubs that never backed down from the project were Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid, and a year and a half ago the English newspaper The Telegraph wrote that they then had plans to relaunch the project, but with a number of changes.
Now, Juventus finally announces that the club is dropping out of the Super League – more than two years after the project failed. The process for an exit is underway.
Juventus’ former president Andrea Agnelli, who has left the club and is now suspended for three and a half years for accounting offences, was driving in the Super League.
