Daniele Rugani has entered the final year of his contract with Juventus and Massimiliano Allegri wants to be offered a new contract.
The 29-year-old Italian defender didn’t feature prominently in Turin last season, playing just 742 minutes of action in 11 total appearances. He was left on the bench for the 2023-24 season opener against Udinese.
Rugani has been at Juventus since the summer of 2015 and has proven useful as a rotation option, replacing the back line when needed. He was briefly loaned out to Rennes and Cagliari during the 2020-21 campaign.
As Goal.com, SportItalia and Calciomercato.com have reported, Allegri has convinced Juventus to offer Rugani a new contract and negotiations are expected to start in the coming weeks.
The current plan is to offer him a new three-year deal with a lower salary than his current deal, taking him from €2.8m to €2-2.3m net per season plus bonuses.
