Juventus are eyeing a blow to a Man City asset who has often been touted as a potential weight in a transfer from Tottenham to Harry Kane, according to a report.
Harry Kane’s future in north London remains uncertain with the new season just around the corner. City of man have already broken the UK transfer record this summer by acquiring Jack Grealish for £ 100million.
A new bar will likely be in place if they are to achieve their ultimate goal of bringing Kane to the Etihad.
As you might expect, Daniel Levy and Tottenham are extremely reluctant to sell. However, one school of thought was that the inclusion of a ready-made makeweight, plus a huge fee, could wreak havoc on them.
Raheem Sterling was one of those players alleged to be in the frame. However, after a sparkling campaign at Euro 2020, the England striker is is said to be in talks on a new contract. Another player whose name has been verified as a possible bargaining chip has been Aymeric Laporte.
The French-born Spanish defender looked nothing short of superb as City narrowly held Liverpool to the Premier League title in 2018/19.
A major knee injury cut his next season short, and John Stones was often picked ahead of Laporte last year.
With his position under Pep seemingly diminished, a surprise exit began to gain momentum.
A potential pair of center-backs from Laporte and new signing Cristian Romero at Tottenham look formidable on paper.
However, Sports Mole reveals Juventus can take Laporte out of the equation altogether. Quoting the Italian store Tuttosport, they reveal that the Turin club “plans to get closer to City for Laporte”.
Their financial limitations make a permanent agreement impractical. Therefore, a loan deal would be targeted.
For his part, Laporte is said to be “willing” to leave Man City in search of a leading role elsewhere. Moreover, City would not “get in his way” if he officially asked to leave.
It remains to be seen whether Juventus will be a sufficient lure. Laporte would prefer a return to Spain, while Man City would prioritize a permanent exit rather than a loan spell.

Kane U-Turn on the cards?
Meanwhile, Kane is now set to sign a new contract to stay at Tottenham, amid strong transfer links with Manchester City.
According to Football.London, via the Daily Mirror, Kane is now open to signing a new contract with Spurs.
Speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold said: “We are now in a situation where it is much less likely that [Kane] moves. I think it’s too little time.
“I’m intrigued to see where this is going now for Kane and ‘Camp Kane’ so to speak. There are little noises coming out of his camp so as not to totally exclude a new contract for him. Which would be an incredible U-turn.
“And for me, the prospect of that is amazing. Other elements to this is yes, if you are going to stay why not get more money. I totally understand. And I think if you look at what Spurs are trying to do in the transfer market, maybe you can tell there’s something exciting going on there.
However, any new deal could still give Manchester City a chance to strike a future deal. Reports have suggested that Kane’s new deal may contain an exit clause that would become active in the summer of 2022.
