Juventus are looking to find a new club for Federico Chiesa but are concerned he could end his contract and sign somewhere for free next season, with AC Milan linked.
This is what SportMediaset claims, reporting that the standoff between Juventus and Chiesa reached another decisive stage yesterday, with the Turin club’s decision to exclude him from first-team training.
Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and coach Thiago Motta are clear: the Italian winger has known for some time that he is not in their plans and they will not go back on that point. The mission is now to sell him by the end of the transfer window for around €25 million, his residual value on the accounts.
Juve fear that Chiesa already has a verbal agreement with another team for the summer of 2025, when his contract expires, which poses a problem both in terms of the soaring income and the idea that they could now have to pay his salary for another year.
However, Chiesa’s current situation could motivate him to leave immediately, as it is one thing to be able to train with the first team, perhaps gaining a few minutes on the pitch, but it is another to have an entire season on the sidelines.
Last week, his agent Fali Ramadani met with Inter and Milan to see if they were interested. The Nerazzurri seem hesitant because Beppe Marotta is keen on a free transfer but it seems difficult to adapt Chiesa to Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2.
For their Rossoneri, it would be a kind of “joker” movea project to which Zlatan Ibrahimovic himself recently declared that the club remains open, even if the salary that the winger earns and the fees that Juve want to make it seem more fanciful.
In recent weeks, Chiesa has also been linked with Napoli (the tactical argument would also apply to Antonio Conte) and Roma (who then signed Matias Soulé). Premier League sides and Bayern Munich made inquiries in July but nothing has happened since, leaving his situation a mystery.
