“Juventus and 6 Other Clubs Under Federal Investigation: Latest Update and Defense Strategies”

Needless to say, there is not only the Juventus at stake in the second line of investigation – after the one related to capital gains – recently closed by the federal prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné. There are also its former or current executives, of course, but that’s still not enough. At stake – in the sense of being mentioned – are 6 other clubs and 12 other transfer market operators (players’ agents) with whom Juventus has completed transactions deemed worthy of attention. Individuals who for the most part, willingly or unwillingly, will end up mentioned in some way in the defense briefs that Juventus’ lawyers are about to present to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office. The deadline for doing so expires this week. The defenses want to try to dismantle the prosecutor’s theses: in theory by getting him to file and not proceed with the actual referral, or in any case by laying the foundations for a counter-offensive if it comes to trial. Without forgetting, of course, that if one feels more or less responsible, one path not to be excluded is that of the alternative procedure (pre-referral agreement or pre-trial plea agreement) which would allow for sentence reductions and, above all, the possibility of closing the affair without taking more ballast next season.
