A detainee from the Lelystad juvenile detention center (JJI) escaped last month after beating up his supervisor with the help of four others. The juvenile delinquent is still on the run.
It would according The Telegraph are about a 24-year-old man who has been convicted of several serious incidents of violence. The Custodial Institutions Agency (DJI) does not want to confirm this and the JJI does not comment either.
The incident took place on March 23 during a furlough. The moment the perpetrator got into the car with his escort to return to the JJI, he started beating him. Four other men also appeared and surrounded the car, preventing the attendant from going anywhere.
The attendant managed to flee the car, but was then beaten up by the group and seriously threatened. The assault was also filmed by a member of the group. Bystanders called the police, but the detainee managed to escape in all the turmoil.

An employee of the juvenile detention center reported the incident to the newspaper, because the institution itself did not want to publicize the incident. According to her, it would be sensitive because of previous incidents in juvenile detention.
“To our surprise, the incident was not brought out earlier. The staff thinks this is a pity, because a lot is going well, but also more and more things are going wrong in the clinic. It is important that these incidents are made known,” says the employee.
The special team FastNL has been called in to track down the man. On March 7, a detainee also escaped from the clinic while on leave. Two days later he was tracked down by FastNL.
