Caracas, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) The works of Juvenal Ravelo will represent Venezuela in the 60th edition of the Venice Art Biennale, which will be held in Italy between April and November 2024, authorized sources in the sector reported today.
The Venezuelan Minister for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, detailed in a press conference from the National Art Gallery that the renowned kinetic master will be accompanied by the music of Jesus “Chuchito” Sanoja.
Villegas pointed out that the music that will accompany the promoter of “street participation art” was made following a kinetic work by Ravelo, who saw a pentagram from an ornament he had on a piano and ended up “making melodies with the vision of colors.”
The owner considered the Venice Biennale as the “most important art exhibition in the world”, which alternates with the architecture exhibition every two years, and recalled that last year Venezuela attended that meeting with the recovery of the University Central.
Ravelo thanked the Ministry for Culture for the support of his works and for the accompaniment to bring his works to the Biennial, which, he said, were carried out in Venezuelan communities since he arrived from Paris in the 70s.
He pointed out that it is very important for him to participate because certain types of audiences come to Venezuelan museums and that is why he decided to take his art to neighborhoods where their inhabitants openly participate.
We will do the same in Venice with the presence of thousands of visitors from around the world, he stated.
Sanoja stated that this is the second time he has participated in an exhibition and expressed feeling full of pride at being able to share with Ravelo in such an “important” event worldwide.
This event of the visual arts is considered among the oldest and largest in the world and 57 countries will attend the event.
Venezuela has participated with its own pavilion since 1956, along with Uruguay and Brazil, and debuted in that art and architecture space in 1954, with exhibitions by Armando Reverón, Alejandro Otero and Francisco Narváez, according to the Ministry for Culture.
