For months we have been waiting for that Juve-Napoli we played and when we were almost there, after a thousand controversies and trials, they told us that nothing is true, not even this time: we joked, see you on the pitch on April 7 and not Wednesday, as expected and announced. The reason? The two companies have requested that the tender – scheduled for October 4th, attention – was further postponed and the president of the League, Dal Pino, gave the consent. Or maybe he just obeyed.
The decision may seem trivial, in reality it is scandalous. The new postponement leaves the ranking lame, moreover in the top positions, and this affects the path not only of Juve and Napoli but also of all their competitors, who obviously make the race against Bianconeri and Azzurri to hit their respective goals. By continuing to move the game forward, Juve and Napoli have a better chance of knowing what they must ask for in direct confrontation: are three points absolutely necessary or can a draw be enough? And the others – Inter, Milan, Rome, Atalanta, Lazio – always have the unknown of not knowing what the real ranking of Pirlo and Gattuso’s teams is.
If the postponement of a game is determined by incontrovertible reasons – for example, the waiting for the last degree of sports justice, or the lack of useful dates because of the cups – then you can’t help but accept it. But the race must be recovered at the first opportunity offered by the calendar, otherwise the championship becomes irregular, even more so than it already is. Instead Dal Pino ends up prey to the interests of Juve and Napoli (which had already requested the move): a shame.
Last reflection. We live in the era of Covid, matches can really be postponed every week due to force majeure (and what a force, damn). How can anyone have the courage to make such a decision? And the opponents say nothing?
