Juve faces new financial scandal: risk losing everything

This Friday, the Italian Football Federation – which must also decide in the case of capital gains deemed artificial during transfers – thus announced that Juve would be tried for other alleged accounting offenses. The bianconero club and several ex-managers including former president Andrea Agnelli, vice-president Pavel Nedved and sporting director Fabio Paratici, have been sent to federal court for the deferred payment by the club of certain player salaries, without having any duly referred to the authorities, indicates, as such, the authority.

Juve risk losing everything!

After having received a penalty of fifteen points in the league last January – sanction finally suspended in April – the Old Lady must therefore face a new financial scandal. To sum up, the club is accused of having officially announced the non-payment of several months’ wages but of having, at the same time, agreed with its players, via private agreements, to pay a large part of them over a subsequent financial year. . The idea being to reduce losses on the annual balance sheet, especially after the health crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic.

In detail, the Turin leaders would have deposited with the Italian League “the non-payment agreements of four monthly installments (March to June 2020) for 21 players and the coach, but not the private agreements agreed with them to settle three out of four later”, specifies the press release of the Italian Federation. Moreover, the Turinese are accused of having spent “confidential agreements” with other clubs (Sampdoria, Atalanta, Udinese, Bologna, Cagliari) during transfers, and this without having the prior validation of the authorities.

Last April, the Old Lady had however assured on her side that she had “correctly applied international accounting standards”” et “operated in full respect of the principle of sporting loyalty”. If the Federation Court of Appeal is going to re-examine the 15-point penalty imposed on the club next Monday – the latter should moreover be reassessed downwards according to various local media – Juve risks, in any case, a new penalty. It remains to know the direct consequences on the accounting plan. In Turin, the tension is rising and the season could well be totally ruined in the days to come…
