TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla or JK considers the Prosperous Justice Party to have little chance (PKS) and the Democratic Party were included in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. JK’s statement answered the issue that the two parties were reportedly offered entry into the government camp to block Anes Baswedan’s path to the 2024 presidential election.
“PKS and Democrats Since the beginning, PDIP has said that it doesn’t want to be with these two parties,” said JK in a special interview with Tempo in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Tuesday, March 2, 2023.
Even though the ministerial chair is the president’s prerogative, JK said President Joko Widodo or Jokowi was still a PDIP cadre. So, it is very likely that Jokowi will listen to the party’s decision not to include PKS and the Democratic Party in the cabinet.
“So how can they enter government if the PDIP doesn’t want it from the start. Jokowi is a PDIP person. Later he will be reprimanded by Bu Mega,” said JK.
In addition, JK said that the remaining ministerial seats are currently fully occupied. As for the vacant seat for the Minister of Youth and Sports after Zainudin Amali resigned, according to JK the seat was not strategic for the Democratic Party and PKS to occupy.
“To change the political system, how come you become Menpora, the Asian Games are over,” said JK.
PKS Reveals Invitation to Enter Cabinet
Deputy Chairman of the PKS Shura Council, Sohibul Iman, said that his party was surprised by the offer to enter the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. After tracing it, Sohibul said the proposal to enter the cabinet came from a minister in Jokowi’s cabinet. The Minister is also a general chairman of a political party.
“We traced the information, it turned out that it was a suggestion from a minister who is also the chairman of a party to Jokowi,” Sohibul told Tempo, Saturday, November 5, 2022.
That said, said Sohibul, Jokowi was pleased with the proposition. The President evaluates the proposals of his ministers out of the box. Nevertheless, Sohibul said that this offer had not yet reached PKS. “So the minister suggested to Jokowi to give 2 ministerial seats for PKS. But the offer has not yet come to PKS,” he said.
