Jusuf Hamka officially resigns from Golkar: No more politics

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Businessman Yusuf Hamka alias Babah Alun submitted a letter resigning from the membership of the Party Golkair. He delivered the letter directly to the staff of the General Secretary of the Golkar Party Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus.

The man nicknamed ‘Toll Road Boss’ said that he wrote the letter of resignation after hearing the news that Airlangga Hartarto had resigned as the General President of the Golkar Party. The letter was handwritten on a piece of paper and written in Bandung.

“It is a simple letter. I wrote it in Bandung,” said Hamka when he arrived at the Golkar Party DPP office on Monday, August 12 2024.

Based on Tempo’s investigation, Hamka reached the Golkar DPP at 10.00 and went straight to the top floor. He went down to the lobby at 10.45 after submitting his resignation letter to the Golkar General Secretary’s staff on Yuli’s behalf as Lodewijk had not yet arrived.

“The General Secretary has not arrived yet, he is on his way. But I want to hurry. I have other things to do,” said Hamka before leaving the Golkar Party DPP office. He also admitted that he did not want to disrupt Lodewijk’s schedule.

In the resignation letter by Tempo, Hamka decided to leave the Golkar Party completely from August 11, 2024. Hamka also received a copy of the resignation letter. Hamka left Golkar’s office at 10.50.

“Absolutely. I can’t do politics anymore because of my family and my teachers,” he said.
