Justus reveals: “It would be hard for me to say that Eurovision broke me. But in some ways, Eurovision took me longer to find myself.”
“Then, when I was in Eurovision, I hadn’t really formed yet, but they asked me for thoughts, an image and attracted some kind of personality that worked, but I don’t really know if it was mine,” admits Just.
“This thing shook my being and understanding who I really am. I felt that I share a little of these personalities that I have to live with every day – there is Just, who is on stage, in interviews, and there is Just, who is at home, with friends. It seemed that these persons had two faces,” says the musician.
Shortly after participating in Eurovision, he moved abroad. “When I lived abroad, I really liked that life, when you are not in a situation where you are being watched, discussed. I liked the safety and being alone.”
After Eurovision success and sold-out concerts, Just admits that he actually likes a simple job. “I like gardening, I liked being a waiter – I was very good at it.”
Despite the fact that he even thought about throwing music aside, Just is back on stage and wants to share his songs. “When I sing and see that it evokes emotions in people, it’s like a drug for me. I want more!”
We remind you that Just represented Latvia in Eurovision with the song “Heartbeat”, which was written by the representative of 2015 in the contest – Aminata Savadogo. In 2023, he again participated in the Eurovision national selection with the song “Stranger”, but did not qualify for the final.
