The 43-year-old singer was arrested on June 18 in Sag Harbor, New York, for “driving while intoxicated” after he ran a stop sign and left his lane, according to statements by American authorities.
“His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, there was a strong odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath, he was unable to divide his attention, his speech was slow, he was unsteady and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” court documents said, according to Global News.
The star was driving a BMW at the time of the incident, around midnight:30 a.m., when a police officer stopped him.
Justin Timberlake even refused to take a breathalyzer test once he arrived at the police station, according to court documents.
Sag Harbor Judge Carl Irace has issued a decision to suspend Justin Timberlake’s driver’s license.
During the virtual appearance, the singer’s attorney, Edward Burke Jr., maintained that Justin Timberlake “was not intoxicated” and that this “criminal charge will be dropped,” he said.
The lawyer also pointed out a missing signature of a sergeant on the original charging document, thus delaying the appearance.
The next hearing date has been set for August 9.
