Justin Fields Expresses Desire to Stay with the Bears Amid Trade Rumors

In a recent appearance on the St. Brown Bros Podcast, Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields addressed the ongoing trade rumors surrounding him. Since the Bears secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, speculation has been swirling about Fields’ future with the team. However, Fields made it clear that he wants to stay in Chicago.

“Yeah. Of course. Of course I want to stay,” Fields stated during the podcast. “I can’t see myself playing in another place, but I know how the league is. If it was up to me, I would stay in Chicago. I love the city. The city’s lit. The fans there, they’re great. But it’s a business. I ain’t got no control over it, so whatever happens happens.”

Fields admitted that he is unsure about the Bears’ plans for him and has not received any word from the team regarding their intentions. He expressed his desire for clarity, saying, “I feel like the biggest thing with all of this going on right now is I just want it to be over. Just let me know if I’m going to be traded. Let me know if I’m staying.”

The quarterback also addressed his recent decision to unfollow the Bears on social media, explaining that he simply wanted to take a break from football before his planned vacation. Fields dismissed the significance of his actions, stating, “Why do people take social media so serious? I’m just trying to take a little break. I unfollowed the Bears and the NFL (accounts). I’m just trying not to have football on my timeline … I’m about to go on vacation, I don’t want to see no football.”

While Fields expressed his preference for staying in Chicago, he did not rule out the possibility of returning to his home state of Georgia. He mentioned the Atlanta Falcons as a potential destination, noting their struggles at the quarterback position. “The only con of going back home would be people hitting my phone crazy. Wanting tickets to the game,” Fields joked. “But I think they got a lot of playmakers on the team. Of course, Bijan [Robinson]. They got my boy, Kyle [Pitts], and then, of course, Drake [London], too. They probably need one more receiver, but they’ve definitely got some guys over there. The defense was good this year, too.”

The Bears organization has remained tight-lipped about Fields’ future. General manager Ryan Poles last spoke on January 10th, stating that they will do what’s best for the organization. “I’m sure there’s going to be similar situations in terms of the trade back, and I’ve got to weigh all of those things to see what’s going to help our team take the next step,” Poles said.

With the 2024 NFL Combine set to begin next week in Indianapolis, the speculation surrounding Fields’ future is expected to intensify. As teams evaluate prospects and consider potential trades, Fields Watch will undoubtedly be a hot topic of discussion.

As fans eagerly await news about Fields’ fate, one thing remains clear: the young quarterback’s desire to stay in Chicago. Whether or not his wish will be granted is yet to be seen, but Fields’ love for the city and its passionate fans is undeniable. Only time will tell where he will ultimately land, but for now, Bears fans can take solace in knowing that their quarterback wants to remain a part of the team.
