Star Racing Yamaha rider Justin Cooper won round two of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in Thunder Valley (Colorado) with a 2-2 result. Jett Lawrence (Honda) was able to extend his championship lead.
Second round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in Thunder Valley (Colorado): The first run of the 250cc class had to go after a crash of Jerry Robin with red flag canceled and restarted. Justin Cooper won the ‘holeshot’ of Motorcycle-1, but the one with Jett Lawrence Leader in the championship, Jeremy Martin (Yamaha), was able to take the lead and win the first run. His older brother Alex fell during training that morning and had to be transported to the hospital with a broken arm. Martin commented on his victory in the first run as follows; «That was a very emotional race. My brother is currently in the hospital and needs an operation. The start to Moto-2 botched ‘JMart’ however completely. He found himself only in midfield and made up ground quickly, but already in the 3rd lap he fell violently on one Bergabpassage and had to head for the box with a bruised wrist. That ended his day.
The ‘holeshot’ won again Justin Cooper, but Jett Lawrence wanted to control the race from the front this time and started with an aggressive maneuver Cooper past in the lead. Jett Lawrence won the race by 15.6 seconds Justin Cooper and his older brother Hunter Lawrence.
In the championship could Jett Lawrence with 10 points before Justin Cooper settle easily. After the race, the news came from the hospital that Jerry Robin, who fell in the first run and caused the race to be stopped, has not sustained any other serious injuries apart from a concussion.
