The Human Rights Council, in its 52nd session, which was held in Geneva from February 27 to March 5, praised the efforts made by the Government of Sudan towards the development and protection of human rights.
Maulana Juma Al-Wakil, Rapporteur of the National Human Rights Mechanism and Head of the Department of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law at the Ministry of Justice, told SUNA that the 52nd session, in which Sudan participated with a high-level delegation headed by Maulana Muhammad Saeed Al-Hilu, Minister of Justice, was generally characterized by objectivity, frankness and positive handling of human rights issues. in Sudan.

He added that the statements made by the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the independent expert, Radwan Nouser, who recently visited Sudan, during the interactive dialogue session on Sudan, in addition to the 36 countries participating in the discussion, and their praise for the efforts made by the Government of Sudan in this field, is a strong indication of improvement. human rights situation.
Al-Wakil confirmed that the participants expressed their satisfaction with the ongoing political movement in Sudan, which could lead to a final agreement and the formation of a transitional government that would lead the country to free and fair elections, as well as the government’s seriousness in lifting the immunities of the perpetrators of crimes and referring them to the judiciary. At the end of his statement to SUNA, the agent expressed his hope for a comprehensive national plan in the field of human rights that would remove Sudan from the item of special procedures related to the UN oversight of this file.
