Justice recommends an FEI for former representative Narden Jaime Espinosa

The Justice Department recommended today, Monday, a Special Independent Prosecutor (FEI) for former representative Narden Jaime Espinosa for complaints filed against him.

“We reiterate ourselves in the policy of not commenting on the information and evaluations of the law in the preliminary reports that are an integral part of the confidential investigation referred to the Panel so that they are the ones who proceed to decide whether the matter merits an investigation in its merits,” sentenced through a press release the Secretary of Justice, Dennise Longo Quiñones

Similarly, he recommended investigating ten additional officials.

Those involved were identified as Norberto Olmeda Pérez, administrator of the former representative’s Humacao office; Grandi Liz López Pagán, office worker; Luis Miguel Berrios Fontánez, special assistant; Myrna de León Vélez, office worker; Deborah González, office worker; Elizabeth Reyes, employee; Alejandro López López, office worker; Ismael Mercado Casillas, driver; Loida González, office worker; and Lizette Piñero Peña, contractor.

“After receiving the communication and the report from the Department of Justice, it is up to the Panel to determine in the light of its own evaluation and criteria whether or not the designation of an FEI is appropriate. It will be the FEI who, after the corresponding designation, will be in charge of the investigation and will determine if complaints should be filed against those investigated, ”added the headline.

According to the official, all complainants and complainants will be notified of the recommendation to the Panel by letter.

In fact, this investigation led to the disqualification of Jaime Espinosa as a candidate for mayor of Humacao by the Democratic Popular Party (PPD)

The PPD requested it to the Court of First Instance of Humacao on the grounds that it concealed vital information from the Qualifying Commission of Aspirants that prevented it from being properly evaluated.

Specifically, the PPD argued that they learned from a letter from the electoral comptroller that Jaime Espinosa is the subject of an investigation by the Department of Justice and other oversight agencies.
