“Justice pour Dren”, “Never again”, can we read on the banners held at the head of the procession by relatives of Dren in the streets of Nancy. In a heavy and heavy silence this white march this Saturday, September 2, 2023 part of the place Saint-Epvre, gathered around 300 people according to the police, dressed in white, some with a white rose in their hands.
Leo is his closest cousin and helped organize this march, “Dren left too soon”he begins. “He left in a barbaric way. We don’t understand, it’s a total injustice. We want to pay tribute to our little brother”. He describes a young man loved by everyone, et jovial “He made people smile”. Leo hope now “that justice will do its job, everything is still unclear, we don’t know anything about what happened“.
In the procession, anonymous people, relatives, acquaintances. “It’s important for me to come because he’s a young man I knew in football as a coach. And I’m saddened to see so much outpouring of violence. Whatever the reason, it doesn’t deserve the gesture made against him. It is an immense sadness today”. Manu adds: “He was a nice, smiling, pleasant person, he always had a little joke”.

The father of the victim, Ardijan does not hide his emotion in the face of the world that came in support. “I am very moved that so many people have come, so that there will never be that again, neither in Nancy, nor anywhere in the world”. He explains that he is following the investigation closely with two lawyers “We want the truth about what happened with our child.“As for the aggressors “they must be punished as he deserves for what they have done.”

The march ended at the scene of the tragedy, near the “Le Chat Noir” nightclub, where Dren, 20, was beaten up with a knife and fist on the night of Friday to last Saturday. Flowers have been placed there, a guest book opened. Still in silence, many people wrote a note there.
The mayor of Nancy Mathieu Klein and the president of the departmental council of Meurthe-et-Moselle Chaynesse Khirouni were waiting for them, at the bedside of the bereaved relatives. The body of the victim will be buried in Kosovo in the coming days, according to his relatives.
