The Public Prosecution Service is investigating a two-year-old tip that links Jos B., the suspect in the Nicky Verstappen case, to a 1990 rape case. The victim says he sees many similarities between B.’s sex crimes in 1984 and 1985 and his own rape.
The perpetrator in the tipster’s rape case was never caught. The victim says in conversation with the crime site Femke Fataal to have been abused close to the place where B. committed fornication with underage boys. The rape took place eight years before Nicky Verstappen’s disappearance.
The informant says that he had provided a clear description of the perpetrator at the time. However, the question is whether the Public Prosecution Service can still find the old declaration. “The document is not in the current police systems,” said a spokesman. “We really need to find it in the old papers.”
In addition, it must still be determined whether B. has anything to do with the sex crime at all, the spokesperson emphasizes. “At the time, a lot of tips had also been received in this case.”
If B. turns out to be involved in the sex crime, findings can be included in the ongoing Nicky Verstappen trial. B. is suspected of kidnapping, abusing and killing the eleven-year-old boy who disappeared in 1998 on the Brunssummerheide in Limburg and was found dead.
