Düsseldorf / Cologne (dpa / lnw) – The North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of the Environment and Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) have held an out-of-court settlement discussion on the clean air plan in Düsseldorf. The environment ministry reported on Wednesday that the conversation was “intensive but constructive”. The city of Düsseldorf also took part in the meeting at the Ministry of the Environment last Tuesday.
After a wave of lawsuits from environmental aid against 14 municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia due to non-compliance with the nitrogen dioxide limit values, the procedure for the clean air plan in Düsseldorf is the last procedure that is still open. The settlement negotiations have already been successfully concluded in Aachen, Cologne, Essen, Bonn, Dortmund, Hagen, Gelsenkirchen, Bielefeld, Bochum, Düren, Paderborn, Oberhausen and Wuppertal.
