This Tuesday, the Justice Department ordered precautionary measures for the Broad Front deputy Gustavo Olmos, who was criminally denounced by the substitute deputy Martina Casás for sexual and workplace harassment. After learning of this resolution, the deputy preferred not to make statements to the press, although he assured that he will remain on leave while the Political Conduct Court of the Frente Amplio does not rule on the matter.
His lawyer Diego Camaño stated that this is not a case of gender violence and that they are not aware of any of the complaints against his client.
“We do not understand why Martina’s defense has made public a lot of issues against her own protection and shielding the victim,” he added and assured that the measures adopted by Judge Lilián Elhorriburu do not change the position in any way. that Olmos had already adopted. The measures include a distance of a radius of 100 meters between the victim and the accused and the prohibition of communication between the two until June 6, 2024.
Sponsored by Juan Raúl Williman, Casás appeared yesterday at the Prosecutor’s Office accusing Olmos of sexual harassment and this Tuesday she appeared at 9:30 before the Family Court to confirm her willingness to accept the precautionary measures. However, Williman indicated this Tuesday that they became aware of today’s hearing through the press.
Casás, for his part, preferred not to speak to the press. “These are not easy times,” he apologized.

The Political Conduct Court (TCP) has already received the version of those involved and took testimony from Olmos, Casás and several secretaries and leaders who usually had daily contact with them. Both the titular deputy and his substitute are on leave from their duties before Parliament, and they are not participating in the organic areas of the Frente Amplio. Both belong to the Seregnista-Progresistas Convocation, the sector that supports Mario Bergara’s pre-candidacy.
Some time ago, Olmos told El País that the complaint filed by his deputy took him “absolutely by surprise.” “We worked together, we had an absolutely correct and affectionate personal relationship,” he said.

- Talk about it with people you trust: family, friends, neighbors.

- Leaving your home because you are mistreated is not abandonment of home. If you decide to do so, leave a record at the Police Section.

- When visiting your children, avoid being alone
- Change routines if they chase you.
- Ask them to accompany you when you leave work, see if the aggressor is nearby to avoid him and/or call the police.
