The public prosecutor’s office in Vienna has closed the investigation against the former FPÖ politician Johann Gudenus for the “Ali video”.
The investigation against Gudenus has now been terminated because Gudenus’ criminal behavior could “not be proven with the necessary security for criminal proceedings”. Specifically, no indications were found that Gudenus, who stumbled across the Ibiza video, published the video himself.
Investigations only possible after “Ibiza”
The Ibiza video was also the reason why the public prosecutor was able to start an investigation in the first place. Because with the resignation following the video, this could begin. Extradition to the National Council had been rejected in early 2019 with the votes of the then coalition parties ÖVP and FPÖ.
The media authority stated in a ruling that the video, which had already been taken off the network shortly after its release, was one “serious” violation acted.
The fact that in the cartoon video on the subject of photo e-cards, a character named Ali wears a typical oriental-Islamic headgear (Fes) and is very similar to his cousin Mustafa, would imply that this group of people “goes crazy” to engage in social abuse, the authority notes.
