Bremen (dpa / lni) – In the affair of the refugee office (Bamf), the public prosecutor’s office in Bremen has closed its investigations against the public prosecutor’s office. A spokesman for the Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Tuesday that the relevant decision was issued on September 7th. The proceedings against all accused had been discontinued for lack of sufficient suspicion, it said. The public prosecutor’s office did not want to provide any more information because the decision was not yet final. The media had previously reported on it.

The public prosecutor’s office in Bremen had started investigations against four public prosecutors – including the head of the local public prosecutor’s office. It was about the suspicion of a violation of private secrets of an accused. Three employees and one employee of the public prosecutor’s office are said to have made prejudicial statements about the former head of the refugee office in a conversation with a journalist.

In the spring of 2019, the prosecution investigated extensively because of suspected grievances in the Bremen branch of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf). There was suspicion that asylum had been wrongly granted en masse in Bremen. That was not confirmed. The trial of the main defendant ended in April on grounds of petty and pecuniary payment.
