The public prosecutor of Nice issued a favorable opinion, in particular, about the recovery of the cabin of the Caravelle Ajaccio-Nice that was destroyed in an accident in 1968. A fact that could end 56 years of questioning for the families of the victims.
A promising new episode and perhaps the epilogue of the 56-year-old Caravelle Ajaccio-Nice drama. At the Nice courthouse, lawyers for the victims’ families met the prosecutor in charge of the investigation.
He expressed a favorable opinion of the taking pictures and recovering the cabin. “56 years later, 56 years of suffering, 56 years of official silence, 56 years of state secrecy, now the State must admit that there was indeed a missile that hit the Caravelle by mistake“, complains Louis Poli, the parent of the victims of the Caravelle accident.
On 11 September 1968, flight AF1611 was departing from Ajaccio preparing to land in Nice. The plane sinks to a depth of more than 2,000 meters. After 56 years of searching and twists and turns, the families want the remains of the plane to be floated or photographed underwater.
The Élysée has given permission Last week, today, it was the prosecutor of Nice who spoke to the lawyers. “What he wants is for things to go quickly, supporting Me Paul Sollacaro, lawyer for the families of the victims. And that we get feedback very quickly on the question of feasibility so that fishing or photography work can be done quickly if feasibility comes back in a positive way.”
The families of the 95 victims have always believed that a bullet, fired by mistake by the army, was the cause of the accident. “Despite the time that has passed, I am considering it today and we already discussed it in Paris last week when we found out at the Élysée that we at the time of conversion in this transaction.“, considers Mr. Philippe Soussi, lawyer for the families of the victims.
The next step, an expert should be contacted to check the feasibility of the operation.
