Hockey Plzeň have sacked coaches Václav Baďouček and Miloš Říha after an unsuccessful start to the extra league season, the team will be led by Petr Kořínek and assistant František Bombic. The West Bohemians have lost both games of the new year, but the management of the club was not satisfied with the results and the progress of the match in preparation.
“We did not have a positive start to the season. In preparation, things did not work as expected and the first two rounds ended in defeat. The matches now follow each other quickly, we have difficult games ahead of us, so we had to react quickly. not to suffer a significant loss behind the other teams, “general manager Martin Straka said on the club’s website.
Baďouček and Říha led Pilsen for the second season. The previous year, the West Bohemians finished sixth in the regular season, then lost to Mlada Boleslav in the preliminary round of the playoffs.
Kořínek, 55, is looking forward to his debut as an extra-season manager. The former Pilsen striker has so far led the youth teams with which he won the title last season. “I think this step will be an impetus for all the players who haven’t convinced me with their performances yet,” said Straka.
Pilsen lost four out of eight games in preparation, conceding seven goals in games against Karlovy Vary and Litvínov. In the extra league, West Bohemia first lost 1: 2 at home to Olomouc on Friday, then failed Sunday against Vítkovice (2: 4). They are 12th in the standings for points ahead of Litvínov and Karlovy Vary, who are also waiting for their first gain.
Kořínka and Bombice will play their first match on the Pilsen bench on Friday, when Škoda take on Pardubice at home. According to the club’s website, sports manager Tomáš Vlasák, who until now has also been Baďouček and Říha’s assistant, will continue to work for team A.
