Seventy years ago, the municipality of Tilburg received a very special stained-glass window from its residents. It was a reminder of that year’s smallpox epidemic, which shut the city down for weeks. The window can still be admired in the Palace on Willemsplein. A similar window of thanks will be unveiled on Saturday, but for the corona epidemic.
The thank-you window that will be unveiled is a work of art that is hung on a huge facade of the Palace. In recent months, people from Tilburg have been able to tell what they are proud of, who brought them through this pandemic and who they want to thank.

Later this year, another 20 small works of art will be distributed to fellow townspeople who, through their activities, helped others to be comforted, helped or encouraged during the corona epidemic. The best known of these has to be Intensivist Diederik Gommers, who has been informing the population about the corona measures for a year.
