The player has been ruled out of the Premier League opener for the 2022/23 season when Spurs host Southampton on 6 August.

New Tottenham striker Richarlison was handed a one-match ban by the FA for throwing a flare at Goodison Park last season.

The incident occurred in Everton’s 1-0 win over Chelsea and Richarlison scored the only goal of the game.

The FA has now decided to punish the 25-year-old. This means he will miss the Premier League’s opener for the 2022/23 season when Spurs host Southampton on 6 August. The player was also fined £25,000 for his actions.

“The independent Regulatory Commission has suspended Richarlison de Andrade for one match and fined him £25,000 following a breach of FA Rule E3 that occurred during a Premier League match on Sunday, 1 May 2022,” reads an FA release.
