Physical activity has always had beneficial effects on the heart. Sport, however, also helps in another sense: it is enough to do this a few hours a week to reduce the risk of cancer. Paolo Veronesi, president of the Umberto Veronesi Foundation, explains why sport has an impact on reducing the risk of cancer.
The value of sport
Physical activity is useful not only in keeping the cardiovascular system healthy but has positive repercussions for the prevention of oncological diseases. Sport acts like a drug. Logically, one must be combined healthy nutrition.
Time to devote to sport
Sport as a medicine. Exercising between 2 to 5 hours a week helps significantly reduce the risk of getting seven types of cancer. Let’s find out what they are.
The doctor, Umberto’s son, believes that a series of tumors can be defeated. It refers to breast cancer, colorectal cancer, endometrial cancer, kidney cancer, myeloma, liver cancer and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Sport plays a fundamental role in reducing the risk of developing one of these terrible diseases, but it can also do more. In the case of successfully treated cancer, exercising can reduce the recurrence of the disease.
Advice
Paolo Veronesi recommends doing aerobic training at least three times a week. Logically, we must not overdo it, each individual must calibrate the time according to their physical conditions. In fact, sport generates benefits under certain conditions, otherwise it could also be deleterious. Therefore, you absolutely must not force it.
In general, physical activity should lead to an increase in heart rate, sweating and breathing. These three conditions should not prevent you from speaking during a conversation while playing sports. Just do this a few hours a week to reduce the risk of cancer: walking at a brisk pace, pedaling at 15 km / h or water aerobics. As we have seen, sport has positive repercussions beyond the rosiest expectations.
