‘just a shameless clown’; Fans attacked Ganguly after his tweet about Indian women

Women’s cricket was India’s most anticipated event at the Commonwealth Games. The performance of the Indian team including players like Mandana, Shefali Verma and Renuka, who are playing in good form and Harmanpreet Kaur as the captain, excited the fans as well.

India, who performed well till the semi-final, forgot the game in the final. India was disappointed by losing in the final match which could have been won against the Aussies.

Many stars came to congratulate India for winning silver in the Commonwealth Games. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly also shared a tweet congratulating the Indian women players. But his tweet did not get the intended response from his fans.

“Congratulations to the Indian women’s team for winning silver at the Commonwealth Games. But because it is a game they can win, they will return even if they are disappointed,” Ganguly tweeted. The fans came out openly against this.

One said that the Indian women’s team should never be disappointed for winning silver, they should be disappointed to have such a board chairman.

Tweets are appearing that Sourav Ganguly is shameless and just a clown.

Meanwhile, India lost the gold medal match by 9 runs. India could not beat the target of 162 runs and fell by nine runs.

The Aussies, who won the toss and batted first, ended the game at 161 for eight in the stipulated over. Beth Mooney and Meg Lanning shone for the Aussies. Mooney was brilliant with 61 runs from 41 balls and Lanning with 36 runs from 26 balls.

The Aussies found a flawless score amid controversies including the fact that Tahlia McGrath, who was suffering from Covid, came on the field for the team.

In reply, India did not get off to a good start. The Indian team lost its superstar Smriti Mandana early on, but Jamia Rodrigues and captain Harmanpreet Kaur put up a fight.

Jemiah fought back with 33 runs from 33 balls and Kaur with 65 runs from 43 balls but that performance was not enough to avoid defeat. After Kaur’s exit, everything became a mere ceremony.
