This Thursday, November 9, took place at the Broca studio, located on Quai des Moulin in Sète, the opening of the exhibition “Just a lunch”. It can be visited free of charge during the week from Tuesday to Saturday, and until December 23.
It’s the story of two women from Sétoise, a woman from Montpellier and a woman from Marseillaise… If this may sound like the start of a joke, it is not. On the contrary, the story here is very serious since we are talking about an eight-handed collaboration between four artists (Nancy Guerrero, Emma Debroise, Julia Dutriez and Anaïs Dezarnaud) who shaped the exhibition “Just a lunch”, “Just a lunch” in the language of Molière.
Model the patterns
Their work ? Screen printing, stoneware plates, ceramic planters, porcelain storage compartments or even earthenware tiles, using patterns, stretched or condensed depending on the size of the objects. Amazing. But what is most surprising is the support on which these works are displayed. Two dining tables. “It’s out of the ordinary, it’s intriguing”exclaims textile designer Emma Debroise.
To find out the reason for this choice, just take two steps to the side and meet Anne-Charlotte Eriau, curator of the exhibition from the Broca studio at the origin of the project with Anaïs Dezarnaud. “The idea with these tables with strong contrasts, one black and white and the other blue and white, is that visitors take their time, like during lunch. The plates, the tables… it speaks to people. It creates a close bond”explains the cultural project management consultant.
From “Just a lunch” to “Just a dinner”
Does it work ? Yes, given the increasing number of people arriving as the minutes passed and the number of people bending their backs to admire the details of the tiles up close. “I would love to eat at these tables, laughs Lydie, an art lover. The whole thing is great.” “The four artists really have a complementary vision”believes Marie-Hélène.
“We chose them because their work matched what we wanted. The understanding was perfect. And we are very proud of the result”, welcomes Anaïs Dezarnaud. In the future, the exhibition may be repeated. “There will probably be “Just a dinner” or “Just a breakfast” with new creators and always linked to a table”imagine Anne-Charlotte.
