Just 3 Months Inaugurated, East Kolaka Regent Andi Merya Nur and 5 of His Staff Arrested by KPK

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV- East Kolaka Regent Andi Merya Nur reportedly arrested the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Merya is currently being taken to the Southeast Sulawesi Police Headquarters to undergo an intensive examination.

For information, Andi Merya Nur is the Regent of East Kolaka who was just inaugurated in June 2021. Until this news was revealed, it was not known about the cases that involved him.

Provisional information, the arrest operation against East Kolaka Regent Andi Merya Nur occurred on Tuesday (21/9/2021) night. Then on Wednesday morning, Merya and a number of parties who were arrested were immediately taken to the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Headquarters to undergo an intensive examination at the Special Crime Directorate of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police.

Confirmed regarding the arrest of East Kolaka Regent Andi Merya Nur, KPK spokesman Ali Fikri confirmed the arrest operation in East Kolaka. Ali, revealed that the arrests were made on Tuesday (21/9/2021) at around 20.00 WITA.

“Currently the parties who were arrested and secured are still in the process of requesting information by the KPK team,” said Ali as quoted from kompas.id.

Separately, Head of the East Kolaka Communication and Information Office, I Nyoman Abdi, admitted that he could not provide an explanation regarding the case in which the East Kolaka Regent Andi Merya Nur was arrested by the KPK.

“In terms of the operation, the information is indeed there. But, if it’s related, I don’t know yet,” said Nyoman.

Meanwhile, Head of the Sub-Directorate for Public Information of the Southeast Sulawesi Police, Commissioner Dolvi Kumaseh, revealed that the KPK team used the room of the Special Criminal Directorate of the Southeast Sulawesi Police to conduct an intensive examination.

In his statement, Dolvi said that the KPK investigators had arrested six people, including the East Kalimantan Regent Andi Merya Nur.
