The newly created jury prize of the Young Talent Foundation (YTF) Berlin for the most convincing program contribution to the documentary short film MIS NIÑOS was presented for the first time at the opening of the annual show of the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film (HFF) Munich, which is taking place for the tenth time this year as an open-air cinema DE MADERA by Lara Milena Brose (script, direction & production) and Kilian Armando Friedrich (script, direction, camera & production). The prize of the YTF Berlin, founded by Armin Schneider, is endowed with €4,000; The following jury members decided on the award this year: Kareem Baholzer (curator, author and filmmaker), Regine Baschny (Managing Director Just Publicity), Tamara Denić (director), Patrick Heidmann (freelance journalist and film critic), Christian Sièe (creative producer) and Stephanie Stremler (actress).
The jury also gave an honorable mention to the fictional short film FRANKY by Catharina Lott (script & director), Larissa Dold (script), Lea Dähne (camera), Nora Kilroy and Jonas Windgassen (both production). The honorable mention was also endowed with €500, donated by JUST PUBLICITY.

The jury justifies its decisions as follows:

Jurybegründung MY WOODEN CHILDREN
NIÑO DE MADERA impresses with cinematic storytelling at a high level, a fantastically chosen protagonist and a multitude of levels in terms of content, which not only, but also develop political power. The subtle and elegant way in which it captures the sadness and despair of a man who simultaneously harbors an excess of love for both his child and the character of Pinocchio is deeply touching. A sensitive, respectful and truthful film that is dramaturgically and visually convincing.

Jurybegründung FRANKY
With his own, original style, FRANKY tells a white family story of prosperity, which is so much more than that. Light-footed and funny as well as with a taste for the subversive, conventions of all kinds are turned upside down here, but at the same time also touchingly told about loneliness and togetherness . Pointed and staged with a clear vision, technically strong and played convincingly.

The HFF annual show will also be presenting the latest short films and spots by its students in the open air on Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16 from 9.30 p.m. Everyone who is interested in HFF Munich films is very welcome. Admission is free.
The moderated program begins at 9.30 p.m. (admission from 8.30 p.m.). There is a limited number of sun loungers on site (first come first served) and enough space on the lawn to spread out your own picnic blanket; a small gastronomy offers snacks and drinks.
We have numerous sponsors to thank for the fact that the HFF annual show has now been able to take place as an open-air cinema for 10 years: Constantin Film, Odeon Fiction, Young Talent Foundation Berlin, Blaue Blume Award, Romance TV, Pantaleon Films, tv60film, Freundeskreis der HFF Munich, Kirch Foundation, Pensionskasse Rundfunk, Wiedemann & Berg.
Even after the HFF annual show, the inner courtyard of the film school remains a special open-air cinema: HFF alumnus Simon Pirron is once again organizing the pop-up summer cinema from July 20 to August 10 and, in cooperation with Filmstadt München eV, presents cinema program evenings including the following Munich Film festivals: Filmfest Munich, DOK.fest Munich, Alpen Film Festival, Turkish Film Days Munich, Bimovie women’s film series, flicker and noise and much more.
