Heard’s lawyer reiterated in her closing plea that there is no longer any question of defamation, because Heard did not mention Depp by name in her essay where she talked about domestic violence. “Depp has already accused everyone of things: his manager, his former lawyer, his friends. He has never taken responsibility for himself in his life. Let him take that responsibility now,” said Heard’s lawyer in her closing argument to the jury.
Heard’s attorney says Heard’s essay fits within the First Amendment, which includes the right to free speech. “The First Amendment doesn’t protect lies,” Depp’s lawyer replied.
