The musician Juris Simanovičs, well-known in the Latvian “underground” circles, has announced the release of his solo album “Mīlestības metastaše”. It will be released on vinyl record and cassette format, but the presentation will take place on a date quite fitting for the album’s name – February 14.
The first single from Jura Simanović’s third solo album “Mīlestības metastases” is already available on streaming services – it is called “Gaismas narkomāni”. On the other hand, the presentation of all the sound material included in the album to the wider public will take place in the Anglican Church on February 14, so St. Valentine’s Day.
At one time, Juris Simanovičs played in such well-known Latvian “underground” groups as “Bärnības militija”, “Enu Kaleidoscope”, “Mazie Smirdīgie Kociņi”, “Tie Jēži”, “Nepilnadīga Anna”, “Telekoma”, “Mūc”, “DZ” and many others, moreover, the project “Childhood Militia” is rightly considered one of the leading indie bands of its generation. So far, Juris has released two solo albums, and “Mīlestības metastaše” is the third, which was released eight years after the previous one (“How to come to terms with your insignificance”) and 11 years after the first one (“Riperography”). The album was recorded during the long period of the pandemic, at home, mostly in the musician’s apartment in Riga. Except for the title song, Juris made the entire recording alone. At the presentation event, Simanovič will be assisted by the group “Bez šičma žežtie”, which includes Adrian Green (“DZ”, “Les Attitudes Spectrales”, etc.), Līga Neilande (drummer of “Ivars bez F” and author of several songs) and Rihards Paegle (singer, also known by the stage name Single).
