Jurgen van den Berg stops as presenter of the NOS Radio 1 News and leaves for Omroep Max. He will continue to be heard on NPO Radio 1: from January 2022 he will present an afternoon program on that station.
Since 2016, Van den Berg (56) has been the presenter of the NOS Radio 1 News. He previously presented for the NOS, among other things: Along the line on Radio Tour de France. He was also a newsreader on NPO 3FM.
Van den Berg will be the program at Omroep Max Villa VdB presentation, from Monday to Thursday between 2 pm and 3.30 pm. At that time the AVROTROS program is still on Blok & Tony.
Second most important woman
Van den Berg is flanked in his new program by current NOS colleague Sophie Verhoeven (51), who also switches to Omroep Max. She has been working for the NOS since 1999 and regularly stood in as a newsreader for the NOS Radio 1 News.
“She will soon be the second most important woman in my life,” says Van den Berg, who states that he is “incredibly excited” in his new job. “I’ve often had to think back to the 80’s movie lately Cocoon from director Ron Howard. Such a feel-good film, in which a group of seniors get a huge energy boost after they secretly swim laps at night in a swimming pool nearby. I got similar energy from the conversations with Max.”
Who will succeed Van den Berg at the NOS Radio 1 News is not yet known.
