Jürgen Klopp invited a young Liverpool fan to the club grounds. What followed was a special and tearful day.
Before every Liverpool FC home game, the club anthem “You’ll never walk alone” echoes through Anfield Road. The young Liverpool fan Dáire experienced this moment particularly emotionally when he attended a game of his favorite club in September.
Dáire is 12 years old, lives in Ireland and has been a fan of the club since early childhood. Due to a rare disease, he is missing the elbow and femur of both arms, which is why he is in a wheelchair. “My life is Liverpool,” is how he describes his passion for the club in a video that the club shared on social media. “There is nothing I love more,” Dáire continued.
With so much club love, it’s no surprise that Dáire cried with joy to the sounds of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” during his visit to the stadium. A video of this quickly made the rounds on the Internet – and also reached Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp.
He was so excited by Dáire’s sentiments that he quickly sent the boy a video message and invited him and his family to the club grounds. A message that made Dáire’s tears flow again.
Once at the ground, Klopp then greeted the boy with a hug and said of Dáire’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone” video: “My friend, what I really love about it is that even though I’m a little older, I can do it.” I see myself in these moments similar to how you felt in this moment. This song obviously means a lot to you, and it means a lot to me. So I could really understand your feelings at that moment.

Just as Dáire had just processed this high praise, his eyes widened again. Two of Liverpool’s biggest stars, Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez, also entered the room. Diaz, who Dáire said he was looking forward to the most, even gave him a jersey – and again the tears flowed. Later there was also a meeting with Wataru Endō and striker Mohamed Salah, who joined Klopp for a small autograph session.
