Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp insisted that Mohamed Salah is not considering leaving the team, despite failing to qualify for the Champions League next season.
The Egyptian star had said that he was “disappointed” after the “Reds” were unable to reach the (Championship) competition, which led to questions being asked to the German coach, whether the player wanted to leave.
Klopp said in a press conference carried by the official Liverpool club website, and preceded the team’s confrontation with Southampton: “Do not worry, no (he does not want to leave), I only heard what (Salah) wrote on social media, and I did not hear anything that would lead to this. trend”.
Jurgen Klopp added, “Mo (Mohamed Salah) loves being here, and Mo was part of this season…”
And he continued, “If a player came to me and said, ‘Oh, we didn’t qualify for the Champions League, I have to leave,’ I would have taken him to the other club.”
And the “Reds” coach added: “Take the key, come to the car, where do you want to go? I will drive you, because this will be something I can never understand.”
Klopp concluded: “I will not say that I need to work in the Champions League so I will leave now. I am responsible for this mess or anything else. You cannot go in these moments. This is not the case with Mo (Salah), at all. Another player tells me (they want to leave), they asked if they could take a longer day off.
