Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, expressed this Saturday that both Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk, who withdrew injured in the FA Cup final won over Chelsea on penalties 14 days before the decisive duel of the Champions League against Real Madrid, they are “fine”, he ruled out that both suffer from any major ailment and pointed out that both are doubtful for Tuesday’s game against Southampton.
“I spoke to both of them after the game. They are both fine. All we know is that it’s no big deal. But the next game is on Tuesday and that’s very soon. I think both will be fine. We train this Sunday morning. If they tell me that they are completely fine, I would be surprised, ”explained the coach at the press conference after the FA Cup match, according to Liverpool’s official website.
Salah was replaced in the 33rd minute by Diogo Jota, apparently feeling discomfort in the adductor, while Van Dijk was replaced at the end of extra time due to “a discomfort in the knee”, as explained by the Dutch defender himself at the end of the match.
“I felt it in the first half when I did a sprint. I played 20 minutes or so with a little discomfort in my knee. I kept playing but, in the end, I can’t put the team at risk and I needed Joel Matip. We hope to be fine”, he told ‘ITV’, reported on the club’s website, at the end of the match.
