The first Government Council of the Junta de Castilla y León after the presentation of the draft Budget Law for 2024 served to put 76 million euros on the table for different health areas in the Community. Some items that for the regional spokesperson, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, “demonstrate the Board’s commitment to public health”, and he took the opportunity to remember that 41 of the ministries’ credits in the 2024 accounts correspond, precisely, to the health field. . In total, there are six contracts that came to light this Thursday aimed at the “implementation, innovation and provision of health services” in Castilla y León. The main health agreement, which accounts for the majority of the approved funds, is the 66 million euros that will be allocated to contracting the home respiratory therapy service for the next three years in all health areas of the Community.
«The final objective is the maintenance of a correct ventilatory state of the patients, which has as direct effects a decrease in hospital attendance and associated comorbidity, improvement in the quality of sleep, in psychophysical function and in the ability to perform physical activities”. Fernández Carriedo, who returned to the press conferences after the Government Council after the break last week due to the presentation of the budgets, recognized that there are certain processes that, in certain clinical situations, require the use of techniques of respiratory therapy.
The current acting Health Minister explained that, to a large extent, its application takes place in the hospital environment, but sometimes it can be carried out in the patient’s own home, as long as certain circumstances and requirements are met, thus avoiding unnecessary hospitalizations. “With this contract, a service is provided to these patients with respiratory diseases, which requires, among other things, health care at home, as well as the supply of specific equipment that requires strict maintenance.”
The second in economic importance is the 5.7 million that will go to the acquisition of 125,000 units of the 15-valent conjugate pneumococcal vaccine, which extends protection in the child population, and 20-valent, which is administered to 65 years, within the guidelines set by the Community calendar. Also within the Ministry of Health, 801,664 euros will be allocated for the contracting of a system of analysis, design and development of therapeutic guidance for professionals of the Regional Health Management, based on artificial intelligence tools through the pharmacogenetic model ‘5SPM’ .
Finally, another 4.2 million euros have been approved to carry out different works to improve energy efficiency in eight health centers in Salamanca; in the reform and expansion of the Aliste Health Center, in Zamora; and also within this province, the radiology rooms of the health centers of Toro and Puebla de Sanabria will be renovated.
