Junta blocks Twitter and Instagram

The military junta in Burma has extended its social media block to Instagram and Twitter. The Norwegian mobile operator Telenor told the Reuters news agency that the authorities had instructed Internet providers to block access to online platforms. Facebook has been blocked in Burma since the coup began. A Twitter spokesman strongly condemned the blockade, claiming that the order violated people’s right to be heard. The de facto Prime Minister Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint have still not appeared. Her lawyer said they were both being held in their residence. (swisstxt)
