Rot-Weiss Essen’s U19s have to wait for their third win of the season. A double packer ensures success for Fortuna Düsseldorf.
After an early lead against Fortuna Düsseldorf, the U19 had to go Red and white food accept defeat. At the start of the 10th matchday U19 DFB youth league RWE suffered a 1:3 defeat in Group C, their sixth defeat in the ninth game.
Right from the start of the game, Fortuna took control of the game, but the hosts had the first chance – the first goal also fell for RWE: Fortuna keeper Havenko let a shot from outside the penalty area bounce forward, Kamil Kaya thanked him and scored a somewhat surprising goal 1-0 from (19th).
But the answer came straight away, Essen didn’t really get into the duels and let the state capital team go. Siwoo Yang was able to equalize unchallenged (22nd), shortly afterwards Karim Affo also came free to head the ball after a free kick cross and heaved the ball under the crossbar to make it 2-1 (25th). The game was over in just three minutes.
The game petered out towards the break, even though RWE were still looking for an equalizer – Yan Friessner couldn’t create enough of a threat with his shot from around 15 meters away from the goal. The Düsseldorf team went into the locker room with a 2-1 lead.
Affo becomes match winner, MSV – BVB on Sunday
Fortuna remained the dominant team in the second half and were finally rewarded, as the man of the game increased the score to 3-1: Karim Affo secured the decision with his second goal after a solo run, to which RWE had no answer until the final whistle found more.
While Fortuna took the next step towards qualification for the A-League with the three points, the Essen team remain at seven points with two wins and one draw.
There are also two games on the program tomorrow, Sunday (October 27th, 11 a.m.). MSV Duisburg welcomes the undefeated league leaders Borussia Dortmund, and Schalke 04 (2nd) also meets the youngsters from Preußen Münster.
