Lithuania’s opportunity

On August 14, 2022, Lithuania, coached by Vilius Stanisauskas, defeated Spain 78:75 in Heraklion and won the European U18 Championship for the second time in history. The most valuable player of the tournament, Juste Jocīte, added nine rebounds and seven assists to her 28 points in the final.

Jocīte represents Tony Parker’s club “Lyon ASVEL” in the winter season. In April, the French team beat the Istanbul “Galatasaray” represented by Ieva Pulvere and Aija Jurjāne in the European Cup final, earning the trophy.

Lithuania will play in the World Cup for the fifth time. Latvia’s southern neighbor won eighth place in 2001 and 2009, while in 2007 and 2013 it finished in 12th place. Jocita’s team has the opportunity to surpass previous achievements.
