All participants have the chance to win great prizes. The competition is sponsored by Future Insight eV with the support of the Ministry of Science and Health of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and the state capital Mainz. The State Minister for Education, Dr. Stefanie Hubig takes over the patronage.
“Children and young people have a natural curiosity and an unadulterated view of the world that surrounds them. This gives them unique access to even complex topics. The creative exchange between students and science as part of the Junior Visions painting and drawing competition therefore enables new perspectives for an innovative, sustainable and livable future. We welcome this and look forward to numerous submissions,” said Science and Health Minister Clemens Hoch and Education Minister Stefanie Hubig.
“As a chemist, I am of course very pleased that the students have the opportunity to give free rein to their creativity in dealing with scientific topics as part of the Junior Visions painting and drawing competition and at the same time be part of the Curious 2024 – Future Insight conference to be here in Mainz next summer. The conference is a great opportunity to present ourselves as an innovative and dynamic city, and I am very excited about the results of the competition,” said Mayor Nino Haase.
Under the motto “Draw our future – your ideas for a better world, a healthier nature and a liveable coexistence,” students from grades 3 to 7 at all schools in Rhineland-Palatinate have the opportunity to present their ideas for a future worth living in Submit in the form of sketches, painted images or other graphic works. There are no limits for your creativity. The competition is intended to create innovative impulses from a new perspective.
A jury of scientists will evaluate the works of art and select the best ten submissions. These will then be published on the websites and social media channels for the Curious 2024 – Future Insight conference. At the end, the three creative minds whose images generated the most engagement on social media channels will be chosen.
The winnings:
- The winner will be able to spend a morning at the Institute for Biotechnology and Drug Research (IBWF) in Mainz together with the state coordinator for biotechnology, Prof. Dr. Eckhard Thines – together with your own school class.
- All winners will be invited to an afternoon of science in Mainz with two accompanying persons.
- Book prizes will be raffled among all participants.
