Junior Eurovision 2021: Maléna from Armenia wins, Sara James on the podium!

Maléna from Armenia won this year’s Junior Eurovision. The Polish representative Sara James took second place during the 19th Eurovision Song Contest for Children by the votes of the audience and jurors.

This year’s Junior Eurovision final took place in Paris. 19 young participants presented themselves on stage.

Winner – Maléna from Armenia – delighted the audience and jurors with the song “Qami Qami”.

Maléna is 14 years old. She is the daughter of the Armenian actress Anna Manucharyan. She grew up in a family of musicians. Her grandfather is a clarinet player and plays in a symphony orchestra.

In 2018 Maléna took part in the national preselection for Junior Eurovision. Ultimately, she placed eighth in the semi-finals, which prevented her from qualifying for the finals.

She was selected as a representative in this competition in 2020, but Armenia withdrew from the competition, explaining that the martial law was introduced in this country as a result of the ongoing conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, the epidemiological situation and the sender’s financial problems.

This year, Armenia decided to take part in Junior Eurovision. It was the country she represented Maléna.

The Polish representative, Sara James, took second place with the song “Somebody”. From winning she was just a few points away.

Poland has won Junior Eurovision twice. In 2017, Roksana Węgiel turned out to be the best. A year later, her success was repeated by Viki Gabor.

Last year – in Warsaw – French Valentina won with the song “J’Imagine”, which is why this year’s Junior Eurovision final was organized in Paris. The next – according to the rules – will take place in Armenia.
